The first day of every school year, my fifth grade class would begin the process of branding. They would choose a class name. This was no five minute feat! It generally took the whole first day! Students came up with their own ideas; they shared their ideas in groups; they narrowed their name ideas down; they presented them to the class; then they voted on the class name; if the vote was close between two or three names, then all other names were eliminated and we voted again until we had the perfect name!
The class then came up with a mascot, a logo, and a business card design. Then and only then could I begin the new class website. As a result, each class had their own website. Some items remained the same from year to year, but each class created their own projects and blogs for their site.
